Myriad Systems opens data center as protected site;
Facility will safeguard information belonging to company's clients

Jim Stafford, Business Writer

Another Oklahoma City alternative has surfaced to help corporations solve the challenge of ensuring 24/7 access to critical computer data.

Myriad Systems Inc. has opened a data center in a new concrete "safe room" at its headquarters at 2637 E Interstate 44 Service Road, offering Web hosting services, officials said Thursday.

Myriad Systems is opening its data center only to the clients of the Web based software and applications it provides primarily to the financial services industry, said Shaun Riney, president.

The company serves banks, thrifts, universities and government agencies with a broad menu of software and services that help in transaction, document and statement processing and mailing distribution.

Data centers offer Web hosting services where clients can physically locate computer servers in an offsite location that feature redundant telecommunications and power access in a climate-controlled environment.

The goal is to ensure clients always have access to their data.

"Data security, redundancy, availability and bandwidth are all important," Riney said.

In Oklahoma City, FullNet Communications and Perimeter Technology Center already offer similar services in their own secure data centers. Another data center built by MidCon Data is expected to open soon along the Broadway Extension in far north Oklahoma City.

The market is far from saturated, said John Parsons, chief executive officer of Perimeter Technology Center. Corporations are searching for solutions to protecting their data.

"Demand is increasing dramatically," Parsons said. "In the tier 1 cities, demand is so great they have had to put customers on hold while they build new centers, and they've doubled prices. It's just a sound alternative to keeping your IT structure in house. It can be done so much cheaper in a commercial data center through economies of scale."

The company opened the data center with the recent completion of its 600-square-foot "safe room," Riney said.

"The MSI Data Center provides greater speed and security for financial institutions," he said. "But it is also important to keep in mind that we built this safe room to be tornado and flood-proof. There is no safer place for sensitive financial information to be than in the new MSI Data Center."

Myriad Systems also is considering opening a second data center in Texas, he said.

MSI E3 NOW AVAILABLE!

New Technology, Faster, More Interactive
Statementse® 3.01 Release Document

MSI has just released its latest and most robust version of Statementse® 3.01, a highly interactive electronic representation of the traditional paper financial statement.

“Statementse® 3.01 gives the customer a full range of interactive capabilities to navigate their statement electronically using Flash® technology to deliver data options with incredible new speed,” said Jason Leger, MSI's Director of Systems Development and Design.  “Download time has been cut in half, speeding check viewing time using improved animation technology and better methods of accessing data.”

End users can view checks both front and back with zoom tools.  Institutions that currently are not printing checks with paper statements can have MSI produce check pages on the fly with E3. Each check on the check page can be zoomed and printed as a page or separately.

E3 allows the flexibility to set-up and manage multiple accounts and multiple documents with a variety of viewing options.  The new version of software can also track the viewing of each document type to comply with regulations regarding statement and notices.  End users can switch accounts or document types such as checking statements vs saving statements or notices. This along with check searching and viewing all takes place in the same window as the statement view and without any pop ups.

“Daily notice alerts and notice archiving are one of the most exciting additions to this latest version of MSI Statements e, allowing institutions to send e-notices in place of mailed notices such as NSF’s to their customers via their digital statements,” continued Leger.  “E-notices save time and costs and are an immediate customized communication with the end customer.  Account managers can audit whether the notice is opened or specify whether the notice should be ‘sensitive for review’.”

“MSI is committed to owning quality, MSI Statementse® is an exceptional example of that commitment” concluded Leger.  “E3 has faster load times, much more interactivity for end users with more viewing, archiving and account management tools than our previous e-statement versions.  Our commitment is to continue bringing our clients the latest innovations in the most cost effective manner.”

“As we worked with Myriad Systems to develop our e-Statements product, our analysis indicated we would need to switch roughly 4700 members from paper statements to break even on development costs and begin experiencing the incremental savings of delivering statements electronically. We had hoped to reach 4700 within a year of our product launch in August 2004.

I am pleased to report that one year later TFCU has over 13,000 members using e-Statements, and we still have nearly 30 additional members sign up every day. It’s obviously a product our members were ready to embrace. They like the security, the access to statement history, and love the online check images. Best of all it is FAST!”
